Graphic medicine is the use of comics in patient care and medical education. Artists and medical providers collaborate to create visual narratives that tackle medical conditions and topics. Graphic medicine provides an alternative form of health communication that can be more accessible and less overwhelming to a lay audience. Health care providers can engage patients through this tool, strengthening patient-provider relationships along the way.
