Participants will learn strategies to build or optimize their online presence, increase the visibility of their expertise and work, and familiarize themselves with a variety of impact metrics, such as the H-index.

Target Audience: faculty, researchers, post-doctoral trainees, graduate students

Learning objectives:

Workshop participants will

  • Recognize the use of persistent digital identifiers (personal, work, or organizational identifiers)
  • Examine the different platforms, such as Web of Science, ORCID*, and Publons, and their purposes and how they can be integrated
  • Evaluate platforms for their specific needs: promote research, connect with potential collaborators, engage in scholarly discussion, job searching
  • Create a plan to construct or further develop their research profile

*As announced in July 2019, the NIH will reinforce the ORCID iD requirement for all researchers supported by an NIH training (T),  fellowship (F), education, or career development (K) award in fiscal year (FY) 2020.
